Explore the 35W@94: Downtown to Crosstown project corridor and community connections by competing MNDOT’s virtual 5K! This community fun run, walk or ride is FREE and no registration is required. If the weather cooperates, the project team will have a booth along the route on the 40th Street pedestrian bridge on Wednesday, June 9 from 5:30 p.m.-7:00 p.m. to encourage participants and give away sunglasses and water bottles!

How to participate

Run, walk or bike your way through the 35W@94 Downtown to Crosstown project anytime from June 5-13. You can start and finish anywhere along the route- or create your own path! We put together a suggested route for you to follow on MapMyRun, which allows you to see as much of the project’s benefits to the neighborhood as possible. Take a selfie along the way and email them to us at amy@willow-consulting,com.

Spread the word!

Share this virtual 5K with  your friends and families! Participants can start the route at any point, choose whether they want to run, walk, bicycle, or scooter the route, do it on their own schedule, set their pace, and learn about the project along the route. It’s a fun opportunity for everyone in your circle to move this spring!

Safety

Virtual races have plenty of perks. You can complete it whenever you want and whichever way you choose! No need to wake up early or run in the rain for this event (unless that’s your preference!). However, since the event won’t take place on a closed course, please be aware of your surroundings and follow these safety tips to ensure a fun experience for your 5K.

· Stay on trails/sidewalks

· Use crosswalks when crossing roads and obey normal traffic laws

· Have your phone and/or ID with you in case you need it

· Check the weather and avoid going out in hazardous weather conditions

· Wear bright or reflective clothing to make sure drivers and other pedestrians can see you

· Leave no trace- pack out anything you have with you during your race

· Complete your virtual 5K with a friend or family member for extra safety- and fun!

Your participation in the virtual 5k is at your own risk.  MnDOT is not responsible for any injury or property loss that you may incur as a result of your participation.

We’re excited for you all to experience this virtual 5K in your own way and discover what benefits the nearly completed 35W@94: Downtown to Crosstown project brings to your neighborhood. Good luck and have fun!
