On September 11, Marnita’s Table and Council Vice President Andrea Jenkins’ office hosted the second annual 38th Street bridge dinner in south Minneapolis. Although rain moved the feast to Sabathani Community Center, it didn’t stop neighbors and friends from connecting and “breaking bread” with one another!
The event featured opening remarks from MnDOT Commissioner Margaret Anderson Kelliher, who shared about the importance of bringing different groups of people together in order to move communities forward.
Guests in attendance shared a meal featuring food from multi-cultural restaurants around the corridor and enjoyed a traditional Mexican dance performance (see image below). Throughout the night, guests focused their conversations on connecting neighborhoods, communities, and groups around the south Minneapolis area.
