Interested in a career building Minnesota’s transportation system? The 35W@94: Downtown to Crosstown project team has been periodically hosting local career fairs as part of its efforts to attract new employees to the transportation and heavy construction fields. The most recent event was held on Friday, March 15that the Sabathani Community Center on E. 38th Street in Minneapolis.
Over two dozen prospective job seekers attended. Jason Block, project manager for the Ames/Lunda/Shafer joint venture, the Minnesota-based construction contractor for the 35W@94 project, was in attendance along with representatives from MnDOT and many of the subcontractors who perform a variety of highway-heavy work such as grading, paving, structural, and painting. “We were pleased with the turnout, both in terms of contractors represented and potential hires”, said Block.
If you are interested in a career in the transportation construction field, future career fairs are planned. The next fair will be in May.
