On Wednesday May 1st, the University of Minnesota’s Interdisciplinary Transportation Student Organization (ITSO) hosted University of Minnesota alumni and MnDOT engineer Aaron Tag to present to students about the 35W@94: Downtown to Crosstown project. Finals did not keep thirty-five students and two faculty members from attending the presentation to learn more about the project and what they could be doing as engineers in the coming years.
Students got to see the progress of the project to date through drone camera time lapses at various points along the project. Additionally, students got to see a little bit about the improvements planned for the coming years.
Students asked questions about the traffic impact of the project both during construction and after the project is completed, the effect of the added Orange line bus route, and some of the engineering challenges involved in the project.
The University of Minnesota’s ITSO is also looking forward to touring the project site this fall.
