On October 4, the 35W@94 project team partnered with the University of Minnesota Interdisciplinary Transportation Student Organization to host a bus tour of the project corridor. ITSO members had the opportunity to learn more about the construction and engineering of the project, see the design plan sheets of the corridor, and ask technical questions to the project engineers Aaron Tag and Steve Barrett.
The group stopped at the new Lake Street Transit Station where students learned about the Metro Transit Orange Line and improved access at Lake Street, Franklin Avenue Bridge to see a vantage point of the new flyover ramp while discussing processes on inspection and quality control, and Franklin Steele Park for trivia.
ITSO helps students network with professionals in the industry and allow them to see real-world applications of their studies! We caught up with UMN ITSO member Michael Odell to see how events like these help refine his career interests.
